This page will have news related to the Haselden family. An invitation to Haselden.orgSo, what's up with the Haselden crest? Haselden.org News Volume 1, Issue 1 September 11, 2002 Hello Cousins! Well, like I said, I won't be spamming you too often, but every once in a while I'll send out a mail or two to let you know what's happening with the Haselden Family Website. http://www.haselden.org First of all, I'm excited to announce that we now have a forum. As more and more people started accessing the website I have started receiving requests for information. It seems I'm not the only one that wants to connect with my close and distant relatives. So, I've added a forum feature to the website. You can see it here: http://www.haselden.org/Forum/ Now, it's simple but functional. I'm hoping that some of you will be able to make connections with long lost relatives or short ones too for that matter. :) Please take advantage of it and start sharing information you have about the family. Second, I recently received a package from Mr. Ken Bartlett in Wakefield, England. Some of you may recognize his address from the pages we have featured about Wakefield and Haselden Hall. Ken conducted the pre-demolition survey of Haselden Hall. He sent me a copy of the survey along with some pictures of Haselden Hall before destroying it. Ken has granted me permission to publish the survey on the website. Look for this addition in the future. Who knows, some rich cousin may decide to reconstruct it to original specifications. :) Some may ask, "Why is this so important to you?" Well, I'm not quite sure, other than to say, somehow I feel more connected knowing that my family name goes back to the early 1300's and that there is some physical evidence of that heritage. Also, knowing that all of you are out there makes me feel not quite so alone in a world full of Smiths, Joneses, and Browns. Third, I want to say a little about my intentions for this website. While I've said it before, I think it bears repeating. Geneology is very important to me for a number of reasons. But, this site isn't just about geneology. I hope to capture the Haselden family experience. I'd like to document experiences, stories, historical data, folklore and visual and aural artifacts. If you have stories about your grandparents, uncles, aunts, parents etc. that you'd like to share and preserve, send them my way and let's add them here for others to enjoy. Some of you have already promised some exciting stuff, you know who you are.;) I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Finally, I'm mindful of people's need for privacy. If you're uncomfortable sharing, I understand. But, if you have stories about heroic forebears like grandfathers that served in world wars etc. that are uplifting, humorous or just plain documentary, I'd love to publish them here. Thanks for your time. Drop by and see the new forum. Also, if there's something you'd like to see on the website or something you'd like changed, let me know that too. Best Regards, Kirk Haselden Webmaster@Haselden.org |
