Hello to all relatives! What a perfectly marvelous introduction to all members of this fabled family. I note many entries from South Carolina. As I understand our U.S. beginnings, there were three brothers who arrived in Charleston, S.C. in the mid- to late-1600's. Eventually, descendants found their way to my home state of Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. The largest branch, so I'm told, continues to live in SC. I believe there are at least two pronunciations of our surname: HAZElden (SC) and HASelden (KY). I met two direct relatives from PA when I was much younger, and they pronounced their name the KY way. My cousins continue to live in Kentucky, and I am now in Georgia. Best wishes to all who read this fascinating family guestbook. Joe

I am able to help anyone wishing to research the New Zealand descendants of
Charles Haselden(1813-1896) who arrived in Auckland, New Zealand in 1860 aboard the Mermaid having emigrated from London, England.
We understand, Charles was born and raised in the Round Tower Windsor Castle in which his father John Haselden was a personal assistant to King George 111.
We have a good deal of information relating to each subsequently generation here in New Zealand but researching prior to John Haselden has proved difficult.
I have correspondence with the Registrar of the Royal Archives Windsor Castle
and confirmation that John Haselden held an appointment during this period. Unfortunately there appeared to be no written records of his day-to-day responsibilities as this in itself would have been very interesting.
If anyone has managed to trace John Haselden's(nee Sarah Eleanor Matthews) parentage and beyond, I would be most grateful to obtaining any information relating to this.

Great website:) We're from Western Australia but now live in California USA.
Ashley's parents emigrated to Australia in the 70's from the South of England.
A late Aunt has produced an extensive family tree which dates back into the 1800's - covering members who were born in the round tower at Windsor Castle. The list of relatives spans lines from England into Canada, New Zealand and Spain. Members of this tree are still very much alive so we won't publish it but we're happy to do look ups for any interested parties.

Born 2 August 1948 in New Zealand, moved to Australia in 1988. Work as head of Asia Pacific for Garlock Inc, headquartered in Palmyra, NY, subsidiary of Goodrich Corp. Engineering by background. Brother John and sister Janis (Jan) in New Zealand. Father Alan Garth, 14 Dec 1922 to 17 May 1972 died of cancer of bowel. Grandfather was Howard Tiffen Haselden.
The site notification came from a work colleague who must have been the unintended recipient. I've never relly been too interested in family history unlike my brother who is more curious about these things. But the website idea has intrigued me and maybe as I've aged, this aspect of who I am has more appeal. There is certainly not many of us around anywhere and I've not done much to contribute in having only 2 children!! I have spent my life spelling my name for people - and incidentally we pronounce it HaYZelden. The "en" is pronounced between "den" and "din". What about elsewhere?
I'm going to check the site regularly to see how it evolves.
